Kyzikos Ultra Marathon
Balıkesir will bring trail runners to the edge of ancient history on October 10–11, 2026, as the Kyzikos Ultra Marathon takes place between Erdek, Bandırma, and the Kapıdağ Peninsula. Set around the ancient Kyzikos region, the event will offer six different courses ranging from 5K to 65K, bringing together history, nature, endurance, and the coastal spirit of the Marmara Sea.
Each route will open a different way to experience the region. The 5K races will offer an accessible introduction to the atmosphere of the event, while the 10K and 20K courses will bring runners deeper into Kapıdağ’s trails, forest roads, and historic paths. The 35K Arteka Run will deliver a stronger distance challenge with climbs, coastal views, and natural transitions. The 65K Kyzikos Ultra will stand as the main test of endurance, asking runners to combine physical strength, strategy, and mental focus across the peninsula’s most demanding sections.
What will make Kyzikos special is the feeling of running through layers of time. Ancient roads, olive groves, village routes, green forest passages, and panoramic views over the Marmara will all become part of the race story. For visitors, the weekend can continue with Erdek’s seaside atmosphere, Bandırma’s coastal energy, Kapıdağ villages, fresh fish, local olive oil, and long views across the water. Even if you are not running, you will still want to be here—because Kyzikos Ultra will turn a race weekend into a Marmara journey where ancient civilization, forest trails, sea wind, local life, and endurance move together.
