Gallipoli Marathon

Çanakkale will bring runners to one of Türkiye’s most meaningful historic landscapes on October 18, 2026, as the Gallipoli Marathon takes place on the Gallipoli Peninsula. With a 42K marathon, 21K half marathon, 10K run, 10K team run, and the free 1915 Respect Run, the event will offer athletes and visitors a race day shaped by endurance, remembrance, landscape, and shared human history.

The event area around Kilitbahir Castle and Namazgah Bastion will place runners in one of the world’s most meaningful historic landscapes. This is not a course built only for personal records. It is a route where every kilometer carries a deeper sense of place: the Dardanelles, coastal air, historic sites, preserved battlefields, and the quiet weight of a peninsula remembered across nations.

What will make the Gallipoli Marathon special for international visitors is its tone of reflection. The race will invite people to experience the peninsula through movement, not as a distant history lesson, but as a living landscape of memory, peace, respect, and resilience. Runners can connect the weekend with Çanakkale’s waterfront, the Dardanelles, Kilitbahir, the Gallipoli Historical Area, local museums, and regional flavors such as cheese halva, Gallipoli sardines, Ezine cheese, olive oil dishes, and börülce köftesi (Aegean black-eyed pea patties). Even if you are not running, you will still want to be here—because Gallipoli Marathon will turn a race day into a journey through history, sea wind, remembrance, and the quiet power of a landscape that speaks far beyond sport.
