11th Ultimate Cunda

Cunda Island will turn sport into an Aegean island experience on September 19, 2026, as the 11th Ultimate Cunda brings runners, open-water swimmers, and combined-course athletes together in one of Ayvalık’s most beloved coastal destinations. With running, swimming, and run-swim formats, the event will offer different ways to experience the island’s rhythm.

The running courses will include 7K and 12K options, while the open-water program will feature 1K and 2K swim distances. The combined format will bring both disciplines together through short and long course options, giving athletes a more complete endurance experience. The swim route will stay close to the shore, making it easy for spectators to follow. With a sandy seabed, shallow coastal structure, and average water temperatures around 22°C, Cunda will offer an inviting setting for both experienced swimmers and those taking on open water for the first time.

The destination will make the day feel even richer. After the race, visitors can wander through Cunda’s cobblestone streets, admire its historic Greek houses, stop by the seaside Taş Kahve, and follow the island’s windmills and sea views. Local flavors will complete the weekend: Cretan and Lesbos-style mezes, papalina fish, mastic cookies, lor cheese cookies, sage tea, and long Aegean tables by the water. Even if you are not racing, you will still want to be here—because Ultimate Cunda will turn a September race day into an island story of sea, stone streets, open-water energy, local flavor, and soft Aegean light.
